From a Frustrating Vacation to a Platform Used by Millions
Tour Frontier was founded in 2020 by Sophia Reyes and Marcus Chen after a particularly chaotic trip to Southeast Asia that required juggling 14 different apps, three booking platforms, and a spreadsheet that kept breaking.
The first version of Tour Frontier was a simple itinerary generator that Sophia and Marcus built in a Dallas co-working space over six weeks. They shared it with friends, who shared it with their friends, and within three months they had 10,000 users without spending a dollar on marketing.
In 2021, Tour Frontier raised its seed round and expanded the team to 12 people. The platform added real-time flight and hotel search through an Expedia integration, bringing the total number of bookable options to over 2 million hotels and 500 airlines.
Today, Tour Frontier serves over 3.2 million travelers across 190+ countries, with a team of 50 people distributed across 12 countries.
